Measure

by Cheryl Smith - Aries

Measure

catapulting through the atmosphere
like a comet chasing another's tail
striding, hoofing, galloping along
as a runner in search of a none existent finish line.
Constant motion into eternity
as I write about whatever.
Everything is suitable for verse
especially those things that move.

sifting through the hourglass
swiftly my sand flows
panting, sweating, struggling forward
like a tardy fat woman runs to catch a bus.
Timeliness and timing is tantamount
as perfect rhythm is to rhyme.
All is meant for poetry
especially those things of struggle.

Reason for writing:

Writing poetry is demanding work, and most poets feel they must write. I have found that the feeling of being inept or worthy is universal. Poetry is individual, as with any art form, its beauty is subjective.
