""Nothing gold can stay""

by er - Gemini

As laughter fights to stay upon our lips,
Imagination, devotion, and innocence of mind,
Threaten to wash away all of this inside.

To fall through the cracks of undistinguished time,
Our selfless acts are left far behind.
We weep at the past,
Of who we used to be,
We weep at the things that we can no longer see.

The grass use to look greener,
And the trees undeniably tall,
Rivers so vast,
Purity so small.

Now we dwell on what once was,
Forgetting all that was taken for granted,
when we were young...
followed us here,
where we are today,
and if it didn't...
THEN..."Nothing gold ever really stays".

Reason for writing:

Chris Ryno...firm believer of "nothing gold can stay". Don't know where he heard it...me? I really like the "Outsiders"...lol.
