For Mother's Day

by Brandie White Partin - Capricorn

I may not always act like it,
And I may not say it enough,
But sometimes saying "I love you"
Can seem so very tough.
We've had our ups & downs-
As do any mother & daughter;
There's been many angry times
And there's been lots of laughter.
We've argued & we've cried
And we've hugged & we've kissed,
But sometimes the best chances
We seem to have missed;
To say those special words
That can brighten the darkest day,
We need to say it more
In the worst kind of way.
Many days have already passed
And we've too much time,
So the words "I love you, Mama"
Are burning on my mind.
You mean more to me
Than a card could ever say,
So this poem is especially for you-
Have a Happy Mother's Day!

-Brandie White Partin-

Reason for writing:

    I wrote this poem for my mama, Dona, as a special Mother's Day gift in 2001. To make it even better, I had it printed on a card and gave it to her in front of the entire family. I just couldn't seem to find a card that really said what I wanted her to know, so I made my own. It has a great deal of sentimental value to all of us.
