Granny

by Ms. TKay - Cancer

Granny
We always called you mama
How I miss you
Now that you are gone
There is no one there to call Big Mama
I haven't been in your room since you left
It isn't the same since you aren't there
I remember a lot of the things you said
You never wanted us to say "bye"
We always had to say "See you later"
I sit around with my daddy and reminisce
We laugh at some of the things you said and did
After you left, I cried like a baby
I felt like I wasn't there for you when you needed me
I felt like I avoided you in your darkest hour
It seemed like I could hear you telling me to visit you
But I was too busy doing things us youngsters do
When I saw you in the hospital
It seemed that they were hurting you
Instead of helping you
I just couldn't watch you suffer
It hurt me more than anything to see that
I felt just as helpless because I couldn't do anything
I couldn't do anything to ease your suffering
I couldn't do anything to take away your physical pain
I know your children and grandchildren were your pride & joy
Even if you weren't in the same room, you were so happy
    to know we were there
Mama, I'd give anything to see you once more
To see your smile
To hear you say one of your cliches
To bring you a glass of ice water
To take you for one last spin in your chair
To hear that toast you gave on Thanksgiving
To spend the night so you won't be home alone
To sit with you & watch Michael Jordan and the Bulls play
Bring you fruit and a bowl of collard greens
Mama I never got the chance to tell you how much I love
You left to be with your maker
I didn't know what to say
I love you
I miss you
I'll see you when I get there
See you later
Love,
Your Butterball
Smooches,XOXO
