I sent a letter to the Dead, a letter full of Questions. And though I fully believed it would get lost in the mail, it came back to my otherwise empty box. With great smears of blood and filth and grime it was returned to me. And though it appeared not to have been opened, I carefully broke the seal. Revealing the contents cautiously I found words written in dried blood. The answer to every one of my Questions-- and then I jumped! as the letter burst into flames.
Reason for writing:
I work for the U.S. Postal Service & sometimes see "Dead Letters." The words inspired my poem. :)
