It would never happen to me
she repeated

and smothered her with humiliation
She didn't know
what was worse

or the doctor's speculum
exposing her shame
no one ever knew
only the doctor
she could already hear
the accusations
her shirt was too low
her skirt was too high
So why isn't everyone is nudest colonies
getting raped?
she didn't fight

And neither do cancer patients
Is this her role?

Reason for writing:
In my Human Sexuality class we watched a film on rape, and those stats were in it. Maybe I'm stretching here but oh well...it seems to me that the same hush-hush attitude and shame we're suppose to feel in reguards to some sexual acts is related to the shame and humiliation (and some individuals attitudes) associated with rape. Women are expected to "uphold the sexual morals" and be passive, meek and mild creatures....we should be "conquered". That's all my preaching...for now. haha
