In Memoriam

by Irishmaestro - Capricorn

The door was locked,
Sealed for many years.
Or joy was abounding,
Our sky cloudless.

There came a veil of darkness,
To open the door.
Our efforts were useless,
Our efforts to keep it back.

The door swung open,
Dragging life out through it.
The lights faded,
As dig our spirits.

There we were, in the ocean,
The ocean of hopelessness, the ocean of tears.
Amid cries of well-wishes,
Requisciat in pace, my friend.

Reason for writing:

I wrote this poem late in 2000 when someone in my class committed suicide. He was a friend of everyone's, and it was tragic that he died. I felt so strongly about it that I wrote this. It now hangs up, framed, in the principal's office, and I read it at his death anniversary, in front of my whole year, late last year.
