My Love

by Irishmaestro - Capricorn

I
I know my love
By her way of walking.
This can't be her,
Her gait is as a chicken's,
Scratch scratch scrawl screech.
Nor she;
Leg after leg
And leg and leg.
Ask of her name to tell;
Canis familiaris, canine mistake.

II
And I know my love
By her way of talking.
Oh, no; not she,
For I cannot tell "yes"
From "yeux,"
Impediments afflict her,
Or a language of her own.
Nor she, the linguist,
Speaks every language but mine,
How absurd!
No, 'tis not her,
Every language but my own,
A dumb-show if there ever was one.

III
I know my love
By the way she looks.
Not her, I shudder to think,
For how could one find
A feature at all
In someone as repulsive, as disgusting,
As peculiar, as odd?
No, not her, never, I think not!
Nor her, a creature
From Michelangelo's morgue;
Not a part of her
Can I decipher,
I think not her!
I know my love by her looks,
None of these are,
Or happen to be
My love; where can she be?

IV
If my love leaves me,
What will I do?
A good question,
How should one answer?
Has my love left me?
I hope to the lord above not,
For all I can find
Is a carnival of the animals,
A morgue of sculpted errors,
A den of misfits,
My love leave me;
This she could not do.

V
There she is,
My love at last,
Not a Chicken or Dog,
Neither dumb nor repulsive.
Thank the lord above I found her,
Ask of her where she's been,
In the lavatory,
What a mistake obscene;
An error I regret.
My love can't leave me,
What did I do?
I know my love
cannot leave me.
She shan't, she won't,
Thank the lord above for that!
My love is like a chicken?
Could work, then maybe not!

Reason for writing:

    This is just a humorous, skittish poem written
for a few friends that were slightly bored
on a long train journey. It was written
simply to amuse them. It has no themes or
hidden meanings whatsoever. Maybe it has......
If there are, please tell me!!!
