A summer goodbye

by er - Gemini

I remember that night,
The stars guarding with their watchful eyes,
Heat blanketing us outside
and the wind was blowing just right
Feeling like a cool kiss whispering to our cheeks.

Sitting on the big toy outside my backyard,
You were smothered in darkness,
 but I saw you weeping
hands burning as you drown them with your pain.

 You said you were leaving,
then it was my turn to weep.
 Instead my gaze spoke,
telling you goodbye.

In those moments as I stared at your anguish ridden face,
 I wanted to cry.
to scream out in anger,
or rip out your heart...at the very least.

I did none of these things,
 You yelled out my name,
begging me to stay,
 but I nevered looked back.

Just kept walking away.....
