Unlikely

by Elora Danning - Taurus

Staring at you across the hall,
I wonder what are my chances,
your beauty leaves me breathless,
your muscles make me wilt,
but it is your smile that sets my heart a flutter

What are the odds,
that you would take a chance,
risk your soul one more time,
you've been hurt so much,
so young, so tragic,
I sense the sadness in you from afar,
that echos my own tired heart,
am I the one to erase your pain?
are you the one to erase mine?

We are the unlikely pair,
at first sight,
but look inside us both,
hear the whispers of hope,
for happiness and contentment,
believing we will find our true love.

My dream is us standing against the world,
righting the wrongs,
bringing justice to those in need,
be alive as one in our souls,
not dead as we are now,
alone, silently bitter,
I keep pleading our case,
to the keeper of the stars,
just let us be together,
for eternity.

Oh my unlikely,
I need you so much,
as you pass me in the hall,
stopping suddenly and slowly turn to face me,
a grin starts to spread,
you take two steps forward,
grab my hands, gaze into my eyes,
your gentle voice reverbates in my ears,
"Hello, how are you?"
at last, the beginning.
