UP OVER THE TOP The battlefield was in a sanguinary state, Uniforms once proud now torn crimson Grey. Everywhere feelings of horror so desolate, Injured soldiers peeped at the heavens in a speechless pray. Many men scurried in the trenches as shells ripped the sky, My name in this war was LT Myers. I barked out orders with a tired cry, Everywhere bodies fell from the relentless fire. Bellowed orders commanding, my voice rose among, Grenades exploded overhead. Everywhere comrades started to charge and run, I joined them foreword the sky illuminated. Bullets, tracers ricochet nearby in plumes, We pushed on a fortified ridge our goal. Eyes squinted in the veil like gloom, Adrenaline kept me going I touched my wedding ring. Friends next to me fell without a sound, A bullet caused a flesh wound that stings. Our objective was near my orders seemed drowned, I wiped dirt and blood away from my furrowed fringe. Suddenly we punctured a hole through, Victory was so dam hard to bare. All the men lost in battle I knew, Would be heartache for loved ones so unaware?Birth sign: Scorpio
