A Place to Hide

by PunkyThespian - Libra

I’ve found a place to hide
A place that they can’t reach
My fortress of protection
Built on lack of speech

And with the fading of those words
I past beyond the physical plains
Which bore the hate and suffering
That drew me to this place
The rain it falls all day and night
To bath this caustic filth
A realm unspoiled by any other
On a foundation of silence built

I’ve found a place to hide
A place that they can’t reach
A little slice of heaven
That pain can never breach

So with my departing breath
You suck the life from me
To feed that cynics appetite
You could never let things be
No more now do I brood around
The air doesn’t weigh heavy here
Upon my cold shoulders rests
No longer a crippling fear

Though when I scream out to the nothing
My own voice bounces back
So I roam this desolate place I’ve built
In search of what I lack
But the walls were built too sturdy
And the locks they have no key
So here I dwell by myself
For all eternity

I’ve found a place to hide
Where I can just believe
A place that they can’t reach…
And I can never leave
