so many back glances
glittered lashes
rub elbows
with the masses
offers of interchange
laugh heartily
flicking the ash
as the pendulum swings
a foreign tongue
bares sharpened teeth
beneath this pen
and surrendered sheets
forgotten sentiment
begs silent reprieve
with all the finesse
of a newly hatched king
