Mind games and words, are all very well. But what of my deeds, of what will they tell. When I am free, they might tell something of me.
Reason for writing:
I'd like to dedicate this poem to the pursuit of excellence, of happiness, and olympians everywhere, especially in Greece today. And particularly to my cousin Carl, a man of deeds, several times olympic champion, without whom I would not be here today, as he paid my fare. I'd also like to thank the people who make the tea, the window cleaner, and all those who have helped me to become what I am today, and was not yesterday.
I was thinking about what defines us, what makes us what we are. Are we what we eat, I hope not, as I've eaten a lot of s*** in my life. Is it what we say or think, or even what we write, that defines us. I'm not sure. We can change our opinions as time goes by and we increase in wisdom. Or are we defined by what we do. By the decisions that we make, and the consequent actions. I think perhaps that might be the case, although of course, we can and should improve and develop over time. In other words, I am, therefore I do. Do my own thing. Use my own gifts. Develop my own talents and ideas. We are certainly not defined by interference, intervention and manipulation by human agency. Education and training of course are good and beneficial, and should be the right of all people by choice. Arbitrary interference, intervention and manipulation are of no benefit to the human being whatsoever, in my experience. I've heard so much about denial in recent times that I am sick and tired of those people who only seem to think in negative terms. We live in an imperfect world, which nevertheless has a great deal to offer. If people wish to wallow in negative thinking like pigs in a trough, or flies around a s***heap, then that is their prerogative. But it seems that there are those who seek to use the negatives to justify their particular ideas of what the positives might be. I am very wary and suspicious of these people. The utopians. The interferers and interventionists. The 21st century communists.
