What Their Eyes Saw

by Twan - Aries

They yelled and they shouted
They watched as they fought
The woman struggling for her life
it was all for naught
The man wanted her purse
She wanted to keep
But all their actions
they did nothing but weep

The city broke under a crime wave
The way the seventies went
Your money was taken away
S&L spent
He roamed the lovers lanes
and killed just for sport
And all attempts to catch him
came up wayyy too short
Then one day Coffey got on the tube
Made a little plea
and suddenly Son of Sam was gone
Along with Kitty Genovese

The fall of the Berlin Wall
Rock Hudson dying of the plague
amid all this stuff was
the destruction of the Hague
The destruction of my youth
The basketball court that wasn't worth shit
The potholes so large
they were like satan's pit

What my eyes saw
and what I said
are two different things
they fall like lead
