To sin can be sublime. But to win is just divine.
Reason for writing:
This poem is dedicated to the Kendalls. Great country music as it should be. I love good country music, and I've heard quite a lot of it. It seems to me that great music can be a triumph of the spirit, and a manifestation of God given talent, whether Mozart or country or whatever. The title which I have modified slightly, is based on a wonderful record of the Kendalls. But it is better to win than to sin. And if you are on the right side, then you can win. If you are on the wrong side, you are guaranteed to lose in the long run. Beware of those who claim to have God on their side. Beware of those who claim credit where it is not due. In my experience and understanding, God can help and inspire people, if they are on his side. If He chooses to do so. If that suits His purposes. He does not work for anyone, but can help people strengthening them with His Spirit. And He does work in mysterious ways. But there are those devoted to God who work together in churches. It is hard to judge sins, to judge whether particular actions are sins or not, but some have a license to sin. To commit real sins. Just like a license to kill. Except that's not the same. Think about it. A long time ago, I was walking along the road. On the other side of the road, I saw a mugging take place. I paused to watch. A little old lady was being viciously attacked and abused, but she would not relinquish her purse. After a long while (it seemed like about 30 years), the mugger suddenly stopped. He knelt before the old lady, and begged forgiveness. Being a Christian, and although battered and bruised, the old lady gave her forgiveness. And then, the mugger looked her threateningly in the face and said "If you are a Christian, then show your forgiveness by giving me the purse". I was tempted to intervene at this point, but resisted the temptation. The old lady kicked the mugger in the balls, and walked away. A serene smile on her face, purse 100% intact.
