On Holiday

by elisa hinson - Libra

losing myself
 in the loss of you
losing me

       blinking in the disco neon
       bumping to the thumpa thumpa
of an electric cotton eyed joe

smiling wearily
as marco whispers
sweet proposals

       of life abroad

as the guinness flows
and the time ticks on
and the rubber burns
circular holes

       in the back of my
       low rise jeans
