The Spring That Brought Magic

by Charles Albano - Sagittarius

The Spring That Brought Magic

One morning
in the spring
she heard the wind say,
"The sun and I will chase the winter out
so you can move into your playhouse again
with your friends."

So she opened all the doors and windows,
and the sun sent its warm rays through,
while the wind ran behind them
and whistled tunes inside.

That afternoon her mother set up a
garden party to celebrate spring,
and all her friends came,
bringing along the toys
they got during winter.

Squirrels played with butterflies
in the trees.
Bright green grass began to grow,
until it covered the whole back yard
like a soft blanket
replacing the old brown grass.
Everything smelled fresh and wonderful.

Trees budded and brand new leaves appeared.
Flowers sprang up everywhere,
and soon there were
even more flowers in her yard than kids,
and for every flower they picked,
two more grew back!

It was all like magic.

And, for every kid who joined their club,
two squirrels
asked if they could too!

That was her most magic spring!
