Different (true story)

by Christi - Aries

her hair was parted down the middle
her clothes never matched
she was different
and they were afraid
of what she wasn't
she had freckles
and coke bottle glasses
she use to sit alone at lunch
nibbling on the same tuna sandwhich
she had everyday
She wanted to be like them
they looked so happy
so much to live for
they didn't feel left out
sometimes she would wear lipstick
maybe they would notice
her pretty smile
her grandmother told her she had a pretty smile
she would always choose the frosty pink
cause she like the way pink looked on her
no one ever noticed her though
and she would smile alot
all day even
just to get a glance
but no one looked at her
cause she was different
she grew up to work in an office
she wore her hair in a bun
sometimes she would wear lipstick
frosty pink
maybe her boss would notice
he was such a handsome man
with a good heart
she was a quiet little secretary
never married no children
not even a cat
just a small two bedroom house
on the other side of town
i use to visit her when she reached an old age
she had a kind face
a different face
i remember the day she died
it was in november
she wore a brown dress
and pink frosty lipstick
everyone noticed her
at the funeral
she was the lady who was different
so quiet so withdrawn
only if she would have tried
to be a part of something
