Circled with emotion of somber tears,
I lay quietly listening to my heartbeat,
As I am overcome with insecurities and fears,
Questioning  your every move, wanting to be complete.

Trying to let go of the pain that haunts me,
To bury it deep inside, forever hidden from you,
To follow your heart’s desires of a remedy,
All the while, truth never shines through.

It is tearing me apart piece by lonely piece,
Trying to rid my mind of the awful past,
Begging for you to understand please,
Holding onto you, while you are just outside my grasp.

When will the torment subside?
I hear my worried mind ask,
Will it be when our love has died?
Killed by the memories of an abusive past.
