Way Home

by elisa hinson - Libra

it was around the time
we hit a car
that obligation
rang out

and just as i
suspected
she was there
in the back

same way as i
had been

curled up and
so very scared

look i told her

the advantage is
we get a smoke stop
and led her outside

and later down the
stairs
to the empty lounge
room

to help her forget
the only way i
knew how...

a partnership
formed
for the duration

full of sweet
kisses
and silent exhalations
