Sleep Little Children

by Picasso - Scorpio

Sleep little children, you have nothing to fear.
Unless Grand-Daddy runs out of beer.

This Little Piggy

This little piggy went to market
This little piggy stayed home
This little piggy had roast beef
This little piggy had none
This little piggy went wee wee wee all the way home !

Reason for writing:

Granddad was a violent alcoholic hellraiser. If there was no beer in the house, then he would beat and abuse the children he was looking after. He also had favourites and liked to play 'games'. There was a lot of tension in Grand-Daddy's house, and tension leads to dissipation which leads nowhere. But we survived and I inherited his house. My other grandfather, Grand-Pappy, who I saw a lot less, was senile. Whilst he had his moments of lucidity, most of the time he did not know what was going on. He was also capable of violent fits. I remember once he sat me down on the stairs, took my shoes off and recited the nursery rhyme 'This Little Piggy'. Then he pushed me down the stairs and my foot hit the wall at the bottom with a sickening thud, breaking one of my toes. it was 'piggy had none' that got broken. The piggy that went all the way was unbroken. I always try and take something positive from my experiences, so I thought that what toe got broken was maybe some kind of warning or message, and of course that broken toe and some scars I've got will always remind me of Grand-Pappy who is no longer with us.
