This Common Man

by Will Read - Gemini

Once there was a time, we rang the chapel bell,
And tossed another coin into the wishing well.

Now here I stand.
A man is but a man.
Here, inside… Oh, and pride?
I’d pay a penny just to take that ride!
Feel it once inside.

But I believe, this common man, holds fire in his hand.
Most of all, the rise and fall, is higher than he planned.
