there went America

by jaydee - Taurus

too bad the ratings dropped
   there went America
and finally the laughing stopped
   there went America
at least the island is intact
   there went America
and wives and husbands can stab some backs
   there went America
too bad the dollar won
   there went America
but good, i guess, for industry’s Fortunate Son
   there went America
at least the railroads weren’t uprooted
   there went America
because it’s coal they use to keep the air polluted
   there went America
oh, well, the 1% have their bunkers
   there went America
and the rest of us are worthless fuckers
   there went America
we should have stopped Japan from invading Manchuria
   there went America
and not perpetuated this empirical hysteria
   there went America
it’s too bad we are so good at what we do
   there went America
wrapping this world in a colorless hue
   there went America
then just programming their eyes to see red, white, and blue
