A Glass Slipper

by Will Read - Gemini

I am but a glass slipper,
That sparkles in the shallow water of this white,
sandy beach.
Buffeted by no more than the pure and idle surf that laps against my heel.
For here I must stay.
Alive to all that fate will spring upon my lonely sadness.
For I am truly lost.
Torn from the mistress that I loved so well,
Her hurried flight along this heartless shore,
Escape from such bitter tears of a love deceived.
She did abandon me to my destiny.
Yet, in my sleepy dreams she returns, with love renewed to rescue me. You see...
I am but a glass slipper,
That sparkles in the shallow water of this white,
sandy beach.
Buffeted by no more than the pure and idle surf that laps against my heel.
For here I must stay.
Alive to all that fate will spring upon my lonely sadness.
For I am truly lost...
