The gaudy man belies the spry, to fool the beast. Such nimble steps upon the sand, are loaned and leased. ‘El Yanqui,’ The crowd aghast, acclaim your skill. Toreador, a master, yet an artist still. The artist paints from palettes of the bulls own blood. And the brushes on the canvas let his passion flood. Yet, to live, to die. The Corrida surely finds you out. To stare unflinching upon love and death, is valorous devout. Matador. Seville salutes a man of many parts, Who lived and died in love with his noble arts.

Matador. Artist. Writer. A Philadelphian from the USA, John,
while studying painting in Mexico, took up Bullfighting.
In 1956 John decided to apply his bullfighting talents in Spain, but not without some difficulty. He was eventually accepted by Spaniards as a Matador, The first non-Spaniard to achieve the highest accolade of ‘Alternativa’(Bullfightings highest professional rank) in 1963; Continuing in the ring until his retirement in 1994.
