All devoured by tsunami waves but Maya alone Standing desolate at the coast of Pondicherry And watching through waves dim and blind To her parents rolling in the waters. She walks by the chill waves through slime, Her still weary journey knows no end; Lost is her mother Seeta and father Ram, Lost is the company of brothers and sisters. Around her way tsunami waves press, This earth is theirs, they hold 26 December in fee; Maya is full of wounds, a victim of tsunami, Where are the forces of celestial Friend? She has accepted death and borne defeat, Her parents depart and with thousands; She shares all men’s sorrows of Southeast Asia, And wades through slime to reach her destination unknown.
