with a clucking of your tongue
sonnets were carried with ease
and melodies erupted from your pores
until you finally reached the seawalls of your soul
and found safety in the denial of erosion
so you allow the sirens to sing their songs of death
while those who need you suffer the temptations
in hopes of finding elsewhere everything you once gave
it's not easy being what you are
but without you everyone else becomes...
lost
in their search for pieces of you
to touch and hold inside
absorbing your inspiration
yet searching becomes harder
and all the while the sirens
are calling them further from
the safety of your embankments
please save them
before they drown.
