Open Mic Night

by Charles Mathew Tyner III - Scorpio

I waited 10 months for you to grow and come to be. When you finally got here, you we're a little clone of me. From your very first breath, I swore and made this vow. That I would protect you from everything, no matter how. I watch you grow with each day becoming a shadow of me. Continuing to hope you'll always be the best part of me. You have my mannerisms without any doubt. There's something inside you that continually stands out. You're not just me, you are so much more. A gift to my world with a purpose in store. As you grow, I will teach you all that I know. From what is an ant to how do you make snow. I'll teach how to live in this world that destroys. It doesn't matter if it is little girls or little boys. I'll teach you of love and of life in this place. I'll teach you to see beyond those who choose to cover there face. I'll teach you that protection is better than death. For without protection, the will be nothing left. I'll show you that right can sometimes be wrong. I teach you to get through though the days seem so long. I'll learn you the ways to be the best you can be. For your purpose is greater than you or than me. I'll do my best to be your guiding light and cast away the shadows that come in the night. I'll show you everything that I know I can teach, but your ultimate lesson my son, is something that you will have to reach.

Reason for writing:

I'm watching my little boy grow up and it seems that 2 years went by fast. I know his big brother is up there thinking the same thing. His big brother here feels the same way.
