He passed slowly by

He passed slowly by, aided by a slender walking stick. But it was only when his tired eye caught mine, that I realised how cruel it is to grow so old. 
Silver hair lay lank across his sallow face. A face that once was young and fresh and full.
I turned to look again... And saw, not the poor and withered frame, but a strong and swarthy man. A dancer, father, Lover. I returned my eye to the shop window... And there was my reflection stil staring back. 

I had passed slowly by.
