Expectations Of A Lifelong Friend

by ANM - Pisces

The words seemed familar, brought a smile to my face
Even though she spoke words that I could not embrace
She was all about laughter and taking things lightly
While my soul and my heart screamed of things mightly
Let's do this, in the fall, all expenses will be paid
Yet she could not hear ME---and how I've become afraid
Of things so ridiculous she could not understand
Unknowingness, not her fault, yet without reprimand
I beseech her, as my one and only true best friend
Hope she loves me in spite of myself until the end

Reason for writing:

I hate letting her down. I hate that she can't fully understand MY life now...How I have changed...She wants what I was years ago. Wish I could accommodate her needs but I can't.
