Soaring Through Heaven

by Charles Mathew Tyner III - Scorpio

Soaring above the clouds leads to a whole new world. Looking down and knowing what's below does not invite anyone to land. Icarus' wings melted away as he got closer to the sun. Falling to his demise never changed the joy he got from the experience. If given another chance, the choice and situation would play out the same still leading to destruction. When given the chance to fly, you should enjoy every second of it because many never get to know the thrill of it. But what happens when your wings do not melt away because of the suns' heat? What happens when the wings you've been blessed with add fuel to the heat? The world below seems less and less inviting when you feel the warmth upon your heart. You'd rather live within the embrace of the world above. Then you fall... You were soaring alone with no one to catch you. The joy and love you felt from the experience starts to fade as you watch your end coming closer and closer. As you crash back down to the world below, you wonder, "Why did I try?" You wonder, "What made me think that this would last?" Then you remember that there was someone who made you feel flying was possible. Just as Icarus had his father, you had someone help you believe that anything was possible. Falling back to earth, you turn back to the one who still has wings and hope that they can save you from the inevitable. Then you come back to reality and realize that no one was there in the first place. You were flying alone hoping that they would fly along side you, but they weren't there. Now you're crashing faster and faster praying to soar once more. Inevitability sets in again and you smash into the earth with the force of God's finger pressed upon your back. There is nothing left but to watch the rest of your existence scatter into the universe starting with your body turning to dust. You got to see the Heaven's one last time just to have it torn away. I guess that's what happens when you try to reach for something that wasn't supposed to be obtained...
